Jesus taught the doctrine of the sacrament
He who eats His flesh and drinks His blood shall dwell
In His glory shines a living testament
Some confused, offended, bid the Christ farewell
Israel fed while seeking their deliverance
Manna, miracle, but those who ate are dead
Insufficient for eternal sustenance
Souls need more to live on than decaying bread
Jesus asked His Twelve if they would go away
Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom would I go?
Thou hast words of life eternal — I will stay
I am sure Thou art the Christ, of this I know
